| 432708 | 2006-02-21 18:50:00 | I was wondering if any people have recently gone on to Xtra's so called broadband and then had a bill for going over their data cap ? If so what sort of bill ? I am still on dial up as I am scared of these data caps ! Regards Digby |

If you're used to dialup you probably aren't in the habit of downloading movies or too many game demos etc. So I doubt you'll have anything to worry about. Besides, some ISP's like Xtra can set a warning for you when you reach a certain percentage of your cap. And... there is an online facility to check your usage daily. |

I don't agree with you there :p I was on dialup and changed to xtra 10Gb, second month on it and I am nearly over the cap with 3 days left, and that is rationing myself, xtra have small caps for the price. I think instead of upping the DL speed they should up the cap. Just my :2cents: :D |

| 432716 | 2006-02-21 21:48:00 | Xtra's 1G capped here, always back to dialup speed for at least the last week of the month. :( Don't listen to internet radio or download too much music / video ..... The caps are far too low for the cost. |

We were on 256k with a 3GB cap for a year and did around 6-7GB per month. Now we are on 2Mbit with a 10GB cap and do around 11GB per month, but that is being careful about what we download so we don't end up on 64k for the rest of the month. :p If so what sort of bill ? I am still on dial up as I am scared of these data caps ! Most plans don't charge you extra, they just drop your speed to 64k as I said above. Just remember that you will use more bandwidth as your speed increases because more options are open to you, such as HD video, online radio and other great things like that. :) |
