| 690310 | 2008-07-19 20:52:00 | I've got a photo that has a trapezoid effect, whereby the top of the photo in slightly wider than the bottom. Id like to bring the sides parallel but cant find an editing programme that will do it. However, Im sure I have seen a programme that can do it but just cant remember which one. Any suggestions? :thanks |

| 690312 | 2008-07-19 23:03:00 | You'll find that you can do "distortions" with The GIMP - it's an open source alternative to Adobe's Photoshop that you can download for free (and it won't nag you to upgrade to the for-pay version): . gimp . org/windows/" target="_blank">www . gimp . org You may find, for Windows, that it's a 2 part install, explained on the site . You have to install some libraries first, and then the actual application . It's pretty industrial strength, so I'd say it's worth it . For instructions, there're plenty of decent docs: . gimp . org/docs/" target="_blank">www . gimp . org and there's a whole book available online: . com/BOOK/index . html" target="_blank">gimp-savvy . com The GIMP was originally written for Linux and (I think) also runs on Mac OS X . | 690315 | 2008-07-20 00:48:00 | I only have Photoshop Elements, but I access that sort of stuff through "Image" "Transform" "Free Transform. I open an image, click image, click on transform, free transform, and a box appears around photo. You can click on a handle and change it to how it should be, or if you hold ctrl, shift and alt and drag, you can really distort it. Hit apply. Good luck. |

| 690316 | 2008-07-20 01:57:00 | Well, believe it or not my version doesnt have a transform facility. Not one I can find anyway. Mind you, it is a fairly old edition, but typically, doesnt tell me what version or what year. I does however tell me all the programmers names including their cats dogs and budgies, but nothing useful. So, Ive installed GIMP and still I cant work out how to do it. :help: :D |

| 690317 | 2008-07-20 03:12:00 | Ahhhhhhhhh right. :groan: I’ve got out my old Photoshop Disc and installed it but still can’t work out how to straighten the edges. :groan: Anyone get me started? :D If ever there was a programme designed primarily to destroy my blood pressure it has to be this one. :groan: How old are we talking? 5.0, 5.5, 6.0.... Straighten edges is a matter of playing around with the transform tool and probably a couple of other tools and may be a few tutorials. I have to VERY good photoshop books here by Bert Monroy who is an honorary Photoshop fellow. He helped Adobe in the early days of Photoshop when they put their new versions out. According to the prologue they would give him a Mac and a copy of Photoshop and put him in a sound proof room with a big "watching window" like they have in the crime shows and "watch" the expressions on his face while he attempted to do stuff. I can imagine there was a fair bit of %U&%& and ***^&**^& going on. :D |
