690118 2008-07-18 23:36:00 Hello,
What is the operational significance of Java when using Windows XP?
I ask this because it represents a huge folder that takes ages to virus scan, and of course takes up much memory.
In all the various tasks I perform with the computer I have not been aware of any assistance form Java, but then again there could be heaps going on in the background.
Any helpful information or tips on this would be welcome.
Many thanks

Could you please tell us the directory pathway where this folder is located on your computer?

Cheers :)

690122 2008-07-19 07:00:00 Java controls quite a lot of games and items on webpages. My Java folder is pretty big as well (about 90MB) but just tell your AV not to scan it.

"Java allows you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D, just to name a few."

690125 2008-07-19 16:37:00 If you uninstall all java versions, delete that folder if it's left over and then re-install with the latest java it should take the size down.

running something like ccleaner is also good, to clean out the caches
