It's probably repairable, but most of the time the cost of repair will outweigh the cost of a new stereo.

Computers are easily hooked up to a stereo provided the stereo has an auxiliary input.

You could open it up and see if there is anything obvious . Could just need some lubricant in the right place .

433985 2006-02-26 19:08:00 When you have it opened for a look-see, check to find the drive for the drawer . . is it belt or geared? If belt, it might be broken or slipping and easily replaced/repaired . . but if the gears are stripped with missing teeth, then it's curtains for the drawer mechanism . Some people use the drawer like a CD-rom drawer on their towers . . . . . they just give it a little "tap" to send it in and that's usually the cause of missing teeth on the gear set . Try to always use the button to open/close the drawer . . it isn't as tough as a CD-rom drawer on your 'puter .

There are also limit switches that provide clues to the board that let it know if the drawer's in the full open or full closed position . . . sometimes these loose a little wheel or the arm gets bent . . and these can be replaced with a microswitch from most any electronics store . . . . (maybe even in NZ) . . . . if the arm cannot be repositioned or the wheel found and re-inserted into the arm .

Can't be no harm in just lookin' .

You do realise it's our beetle you're talking about here don't you SJ?

With beetle, just thinkin' about lookin' is enough to fry your average electrical device .

Resemble, or resent? Both fit in that context, but the former means you are agreeing & the latter means you are disagreeing .

433989 2006-02-27 13:44:00 Sorry, Greven, but both don't fit in that context.
Beetle's use of "resemble" is a joke expression, instead of saying "resent."

Resemble means "to be similar to" or "to look like" - not "to like," or agree with.

Think of it as a beetleism...
(That OK, beetle?)
