Those which haven't changed haven't needed to. Any which have needed to change and haven't struck the right sort of mutations, haven't survived. Those who live near the hot undersea vents have evolved so that they can live in very high temperature water, with various nasty (to us) chemicals at high concentrations. But Beckham is just one example in the range of "human" in our present stage. If any of his mutated genes are useful to survival, they will continue in his offspring, and their offspring. If he had been run over by a bus before he bred, all his genes would have been lost to the future. So he has at least minimal survival capability, even if he can't do arithmetic. I suggest that most of us might have trouble handling the numbers of his income. :( Accountants must have been invented for something. |
