433685 2006-02-26 23:45:00 According to an article in the Herald on Sunday there is an abundance of emergency helos out there anyway, and they are now doubting the 'golden hour' effectiveness. So if there was a real emergency it would seem that there would not be an issue getting another helo out there.

She paid for it, the pilots got to do somehing different, I don't see an issue. Maybe Helen Clark should have called them up to get to the rugby...

433686 2006-02-27 01:39:00 Is there a gap in the market to get passports for people who have forgotten them. For $4000 a pop, I'll do it (except I don't have a helicopter). dolby digital (5073)
433687 2006-02-27 03:05:00 "I am important . I am ritch . I will do what I like .

"ritch"? Was that a freuduan slip Jack? You may have meant "rich" but you may have meant something else entirely . . .

433688 2006-02-27 04:00:00 she runs a trust which fundraises for the westpac rescue helicopter after her husband had a heart attack last year .

put it this way, if you were loaded, and you knew that you could provide a large donation, in return for a small favour (remember, helicopters are only about 1k to run an hour, so $4 . 4k for a half hour or so use is quite a bit of a donation), while raising the profile of the rescue helicopters (front page exposure for a positive spin=more donations) .

i never said accidents dont happen, but have you seen the log of callouts of the helicopter in auckland? at most 2 or so a day, but usually 1 . in reality, its no different to the helicopter parked up at some kiddie show , shhowing the helicopter off interms of its capacity being impeeded . except in this role they get much bigger exposure (190000k or so circulation of the herald=potential donors)

yes, because if you ignore the context in which this occured, you will draw a very different outcome . you are obviously trying to pick the negative aspects of the event . any positive exposure for the trust is vital considering the negative exposure it had in the past couple of years and the fraud allegations . remember, when the helicopter is used for you, you are not asked to pay for the trip or any materials used . essentially it is a free service . and running a chopper aint cheap .

i never said they have no regard for public life . i always noted that if in the case of an emergency it would be instantly diverted . we arent talking an auckland to wellington trip here, its a distance of maybe 50km or so, not far in a chopper .

you have obviously no idea how big business works . companies succeed and fail on the merits of a meeting . being late for one is not a good look . now . lets put this in a different context . say it was winston who had left his passport at home in some cave . he has a meeting with china over trade . this meeting could make or break parts of our economy . he rings up the westpac rescue helicopters and says, look, ive left my passport at home, ill pay you 4 . 4k cash, in the hand, if you go and pick it up for me . it would only be an half hour mission, and if you get called away for any reason, then so be it .

would it be ok then?? or do you have some inferiority complex with those who manage businesses successfully and know the importance of making a good impression and not missing an meeting, no matter who it was with .

*** .

What are you dribbling on about?

I couldn't care less about any suit and their meetings, I do however think that the cats can leave the emergency services to emergencies, and still make a donation to their upkeep .

In the event that their copters are available for hire to anybody with no notice then fine, who cares . However I doubt just anybody can send the chopper off on an a whim . Especially one that was no doubt on standby for immediate responce .

Come trail bike riding with me oneday, With a bit of luck you can fall off, munt yourself, be stuck in a location with no vechile access and perhaps drop dead because the chopper was off getting Fish and Chips for a politician .

433692 2006-02-27 08:23:00 Kids, let's play nice now. I don't want to have to call in the Westpac helicopter to evacuate you two to hospital only to find it's off collecting Ms Boag's cat from the vet. Biggles (121)
