433991 2006-02-27 20:12:00 Resemble means "to be similar to" or "to look like" - not "to like," or agree with.

I suppose I could have posted my reasoning, but I couldn't be bothered at the time. In this particular case, using the word resemble had the effect of making it seem like beetle was agreeing with the comment ("I resemble the person you described").

Come to think of it, you can resent a comment while still agreeing with it.

Beetle has redefined resemble to mean resent, but agree with a comment (If hard drive manufacturers can redefine measurements, Beetle can redefine words ;))

I don't know if youse guys ever saw the old "Three Stooges" shows from the 1940's or so, but one of the classic lines of Curley was to say: "Oh yeah wiseguy? . . . Well I resemble that remark!"

Personally, I feel the Beetle is a little younger that the original Three Stooges and she could not have coined the word . . . and certainly not plagerized it intentionally anyway . . . . nyuck, nyuck, nyuck!
