690899 2008-07-21 12:28:00 Ok so I did it again.

I formatted a HDD.

I backed up all my files... well I thought I had.

Half way through the formating process I realised I hadnt saved any of my email addresses. So heres the problem...

Whats the best and easiest program to use to recover or restore or get back the entire contents of the hdd?

690900 2008-07-21 19:11:00 There are no GOOD free recovery programs. Your chances of getting it all back are very slim if you have partially formatted although not impossible.

Tiramisu from Ontrack might do the job. Also
Check GRC their Spinrite might do the job

Recovery software I have used in the past takes hours to run. Overnight plus more depending on the level set and the HDD size.

.

There are some OK free ones. But lots of them claim all sorts of marvells but fail on retreiving everything.
