If you have an external CD or DVD drive, throw the XP install disc in and boot from it.

When prompted press R for repair install.

This will reinstall XP and leave all your files and settings in place.

But it may be better to back up your files and wipe the HD and do a clean install if you prefer. :)

690642 2008-07-21 01:01:00 OK can handle that.
Will have to take out the hard drive to save the files though.

690643 2008-07-21 01:06:00 Did it have a service pack on it before you put it on the net?

It doesnt sound like it did

690644 2008-07-21 01:14:00 Don't know, I'll have to check with the owner when I see him later.
He was installing vodaphone mobile software & screwed up somehow.

690645 2008-07-21 01:19:00 Sounds like it got hit by a worm or something

I dont think software alone would have been the prob
