434932 2006-03-01 22:14:00 I have created a database for Harcourts & they want it delivered on a professional looking CD.

They don't need much - just a blue CD with the harcourts logo at the top & Rental Maintenance Database in white writing at the bottom, but I don't have a cd labeler & my printer isn't one of the ones that can print onto CDs.

Any ideas on how I can make the CD-R look professional? Is there anywhere in Invercargill that I can pay to do this for me?

434933 2006-03-01 22:32:00 If u had Nero you could use this for labelling it . And burn it after u create menus (if u want menus) .

And borrow a labeller / cd stomper, or something from a mate .

The cheapest way, to make a cd would be if u used a program that makes menus etc like Autorun Pro 6 ( . longtion . com/autorunpro/autorunpro . htm" target="_blank">www . longtion . com)

This program will also let u add graphics etc to the menu before u burn it .

This is what I use, altho it isnt free .

How big is the database?? a CD full?

Or will it only take up 1/2, or 1/4 or less of the CD?

Weigh up the cost paying someone/buying a printer and doing it your self

434935 2006-03-01 22:42:00 it is a simple Access database - only 4mb (a small job & small pay I did partly for experience, partly as a favour for my sister.)

I use Nero, but I don't know anyone with a CD stomper. I might look into creating an installer for it (that will just copy it to C:\database or something like that & put a shortcut on the desktop) if there is free software to do it & it's not too difficult.

434936 2006-03-01 22:50:00 Nero will print labels. Design it in Nero, go to a stationery store, buy an A4 adhesive inkjet label. Print on it, cut it out, stick it to the disk, profit.

Oh yeah, and tell the client that a pretty sticker on the CD shouldn't mean dick - it's the quality of the product they should be worrying about, not sticking a label on a CD-R

Iin fact I'd imainge any adhesive is likely to shorten the useful life of the disc anyway.
