436093 2006-03-10 01:16:00 As a Census collector I can tell you that we attend two all day training sessions. One question that must be asked on delivery is, "Would you like to fill your form out on the Internet" If the answer is Yes issue a PIN. Also issue Dwelling and Individual forms in case, for some reason, they cannot use the net but if the net use is successful these need not be filled out. My experience is that it is not the collectors who don't explain but the people on the door step who don't listen Dally (6292)
436094 2006-03-10 01:46:00 My experience is that it is not the collectors who don't explain but the people on the door step who don't listenYour experience doesn't cover all the other collectors out there. I was not asked if I wanted to fill mine out online. I wasn't told it was an option. I didn't even know it was an option until I found out my parents (who live only 250m away, so probably had the same collector?) had the info for doing theirs online. I was asked how many people lived there, was given 6 forms, was asked if I wanted an envelope to keep my details private, and then asked when would be a good time to pick the forms up again. The lady was at my door for around a minute, definitely less than 2.

436099 2006-03-10 11:21:00 Well, after saying it was a piece of pi** doing it online, the census lady returned last night to collect the forms. We had to do a bit of talking to convince her we had infact completed the forms online as she didn't get a text message. We had ripped up the forms but for some reason the wife kept the pin number form.

In the end I re-logged on to the census site to show the lady that the forms had been completed (showed our names and the dwelling form as done).
