My wife and I went there often in the years when our son and family lived in Fox. It is a stunning walk around the lake. It is also worth going out to Gillespies Beach (further up the road from the lake). Take a sheet of tin with you and a few snags and a slab of Monteiths. There is plenty of driftwood to fire up under the tin to do your snags. Then sit back with a Monteiths in your hand, and watch the sunset over the Tasman. Have another Monteiths, and then turn around and watch the sunset over the mountains - slowly goes gold, then violet, then dark blue. If you haven't seen it, you can't imagine it. Then have another Monteiths and turn around and watch the sun dip below the horizon... Ahhh. Then get your designated driver to drive you home, and if you contact me to say you don't live in the best country in the whole world, I will hunt you down and clock you one. |

| 436340 | 2006-03-08 09:11:00 | I have a new wallpaper every 10 minutes. A friend made a wall paper changer for me in C++. I cycle through 700mb wallpapers. The wallpapers where take from X^3 rolling demo (www.egosoft.com) with Fraps, one shot every 5 seconds or something, and ran through twice. www.imagef1.net.nz www.egosoft.com |
