435516 2006-03-05 11:31:00 It's long been theorised that seals lose their sense of smell when dead. Greg (193)

435518 2006-03-05 20:34:00 F & P fridges, in their manual, say to ignore the many clunks etc that occur. Happens with ours. Thanks for that.

Our Fridge is completely sealed. You can not even find screws to unscrew that back off and have a look. It is one of those early frost-free fridges. i.e. no need to defrost. And we never have since we got it.

Well Godfather, I am shocked and appalled.

Of all the diverse and extraordinary characters on PF1, you are the last one I would ever have expected to be familiar with blowing seals (particularly dead ones, unfulfilling as that may be) and on a family forum too. :horrified

You are not a Mason by any chance are you, though I understand they prefer goats.

Cheers

435523 2006-03-05 23:23:00 I rang an appliance repairer and it could be the compressor. Hes says turn the fridge off for 20 minutes or so to take the pressure of the system. Then switch it back on. While the fan is running, switch the power off again and if you hear the clunk-clunk it is probably the compressor ($300-$500 depending on size of fridge) KiwiTT_NZ (233)
