690618 2008-07-21 00:48:00 Have a Toshiba Satelitte A100 and it has recently shot a pixel
Took it back to Harvey Norman as its still under warranty and they said that there is a 3 pixel policy and that unless it has 3 or more currently dead then they will do nothing about it?

Can anyone shed some light on this? Seems it breaches the Consumer gurantees act as well as the fair trading act...

690619 2008-07-21 00:56:00 Thats not uncommon.
For instance:
Within 30 days 0 0
After 30 days Table 2 Table 2
Table 2:

Acceptable Criteria:
Area 1: Zero (0) Dead pixel is accepted
Area 2, 3, 4, & 5: One (1) Dead pixel is accepted
Area 6, 7, 8, & 9: Two (2) Dead pixel are accepted

As you can't see the graphic, Area one is in the middle, 2-5 is the top, bottom, left, right.
The remaining areas are the corners.

690620 2008-07-21 01:03:00 Where did you get the above information from? HemiDavidson (13990)
690621 2008-07-21 09:53:00 Hi

Remember not all black pixels are actually dead. For your sake, I hope your pixel is just stuck.

Anyway, if you want to try to fix it, go HERE (www.instructables.com)

Hope this helps.

690622 2008-07-21 21:54:00 they said that there is a 3 pixel policy and that unless it has 3 or more currently dead then they will do nothing about it?That's a pretty standard policy. Normally companies will replace it if there is a large number of dead/stuck pixels, or a lesser number in a cluster. It seems that you have been unlucky though as dead/stuck pixels are pretty uncommon on modern LCDs (the only monitor I have had a stuck pixel on was my old iMac G4 back in 2002). maccrazy (6741)

Viewsonics pixel policy - on their website.
But as I said, its not uncommon, most have a similar policy.
