2006-03-07 03:20:00 | Just showing my support for xhtml/css/death-to-tables I just released my first OWD template, happy happy: www.openwebdesign.org Unfortunately the design is not my own, but in my opinion I improved the original. I focused on being able to resize the navbar/header/footer/banner to text-size/page width. I couldn't get the content section to look quite right though (imo). But anyway, hooray for css. Anyone got suggestions to improve colours on that? I think the text appears a bit plain, but whatever I try makes it worse, heh. I think the right Citrus Gallery needs to be em width possible. What I learnt: Form elements are horrible to work with when working with resizable text (and maybe only IE, havn't actually tested those in FF). At medium text, the button seems to be 0.1 em larger than the textbox or something... Just wasnt nice. And I couldn't seem to get line-height to work on them. But hopefully I can fix that, and put out version 2 with some bug fixes.

2006-03-08 17:10:00 | Hey, really nice design. I love the colours (always been a sucker for citrus & green) and the font is a good clear legible one, which is much more important than the hard-to-read arty-farty variety. Now all you need is something interesting to SAY on this posh page.

Phasellus nec massa pretium risus venenatis tincidunt. Nullam vitae ante. Nulla tincidunt lobortis orci. Proin ut turpis ut justo tristique scelerisque. Duis tempus, tellus quis aliquet placerat, eros purus ornare pede, et cursus nibh risus vitae tellus. Suspendisse porttitor dolor at dolor. Vestibulum et diam. Donec cursus tortor ac odio. Cras posuere. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Nulla vestibulum odio vitae lectus. Integer in nunc vel justo suscipit aliquam. Sed vestibulum velit in nisl. Etiam mattis velit vel eros. Suspendisse mauris elit, elementum ac, porttitor vitae, cursus rutrum, nunc. Nulla urna erat, porttitor et, consectetuer quis, bibendum eu, lectus. |

2006-03-09 03:35:00 | Wow. My Latin's so long ago I can't do much with that. But from the words I do remember, it seems a fairly gloomy philosophical piece..? Then again, a few word endings look suspiciously unlike what was dinned into me a few centuries ago. So maybe it's actually supposed to be comp instruction in Latin - or someone's homework gone wrong?

2006-03-09 04:33:00 | http://www.lipsum.com/ And if you knew enough latin to see that it is a fairly gloomy philosophical piece, then your weird (Which is a good thing in my opinion. Every person should aim to collect weird characteristics, knowledge, junk, whatever. Me and my brother are getting a rather larger collection. I am jealous.)

2006-03-09 11:10:00 | You didn't have to be weird to take Latin at my school. You didn't have a choice if you were in the academic stream - and the same went for French. But as it was NZ's first secondary school for girls, there was a long - and proud - tradition to keep up. (The country's 1st woman doctor, 1st woman lawyer etc) The battles they had to fight were weird all right by today's standards - so I agree with you that weird can be good... Thanks for the link with lorem ipsum explanations & translations. Now why haven't we heard from Cicero on this? I see that he wrote one of the passages in 45BC. You'd think he'd have jumped in on this thread straight away, wouldn't you?
