2008-07-24 05:31:00 | I used to run XP pro and a 7900gt connected to my tv via a short s video cable with a convertor to rca then to my tv and it ran sweet, but now I have upgraded to vista and a 8800gts (G80) and I cant get a picture on the tv, in fact it would not recognise my tv with the rca cable so have replaced with 4 pin s video cable and now vista recognizes tv but still no pic on s video channel. Vista does say my tv is HD but it is not, does vista only work with HD tv's? Am running latest drivers - 32 bit. Anyone know why I cant get pic on tv? Thanks in advance. | 78SS (13963) | |
2008-07-24 05:39:00 | Have you used the nVidia control panel to configure the connection? | jwil1 (65) | |
2008-07-24 05:41:00 | Yes, the nvidia cp says my tv is HD but its not. Configured as dual view, no pic when clone selected either. | 78SS (13963) | |
2008-07-24 05:50:00 | Maybe try dropping the resolution. 800*600 or 1024*768. It's probably outputting 1920*1080 or something silly. TV won't know what the heck to do with it.

2008-07-24 05:57:00 | The default res was 800x600. TV should handle that and more, i dont get it. | 78SS (13963) | |

2008-07-24 10:47:00 | seems like the vista machine is giving your tv HD info that it cant read or maybe your television doesn't reconise the formt your computer gives it or you got a bad cable cause no pic your tv should at least say unreconisable format or something that.

2008-07-24 11:49:00 | Are you plugging the s-video cable directly into the 8800gt or does it have a dongle? | CYaBro (73) | |
2008-07-24 21:18:00 | The default res was 800x600. TV should handle that and more, i dont get it. If you do have a HD TV, then yes it should handle 800x600+. If it's a normal telly then it may not like anything more than the standard PAL signal of 720x576 (en.wikipedia.org).
