2008-07-24 04:37:00 | I have a new ViewSonic VX2235wm Monitor, 22" LCD, set to 1680x1050 The PC has a Gigabyte GV-N55128DP GeForce FX 5500 AGP card I have tried the newest drivers off NVidia, plus older ones 163* The desktop does not fill the monitor properly, I move the mouse across and the desktop scrolls across a bit like Linux can do. Maybe 20-25% more desktop off the screen. Anyone know a fix for this? The other little ***** is a Blue Square box saying press 1 or 2 to get rid of a message. Pressing 1 or 2 does not seem to get rid of that either. Keyboard is alive when it comes up but does nothing. Kind of wishing I had got another Philips instead now, no problems with that. Both my current Philips and the new Viewsonic are 22" Wide Screen.

2008-07-24 04:40:00 | Bit of a long shot, but have you installed the monitor drivers?? If you run it at 1440x900 does it fill the screen?? Is the text crisp at 1680x1050 (like the native resolution) or not?? Are you sure it's not set to 1900x1200 as some LCDs have the ability to have that res and scroll around the screen.

Oh, and for the display issue, you will have to select the correct resolution for the panel....If you use the inf file on the CD which came with the moniotr, windows will select correct setting automatically! |

2008-07-24 06:19:00 | yet the desktop display res is still larger than monitor display res? | SolMiester (139) | |
2008-07-24 06:36:00 | Yes desktop bigger than monitor. Monitor is 22" Wide screen. I just d/l'd the newest drivers for that monitor and installed that but still a scrolling desktop. When I can see the start button in XP I can't see the clock or any icons on the right, if I scroll to the right I see them and no Start or icons in my Quick Launch Monitor and Graphic Card are OK in Device Manager Weird indeed.

2008-07-24 06:38:00 | It is 1680x1050 isn't it? And image is as crisp as the native res? Does setting the resolution to 1440x900 make any difference?

2008-07-24 21:02:00 | I have seen this before, but not for a long time....are you using a 88GT or the 55AGP card?....can you show us a screen shot of the display tab in display properties? | SolMiester (139) | |
2008-07-24 23:23:00 | It is for my other computer. Gigabyte GV-N55128DP GeForce FX 5500 AGP card I am thinking that the card can not handle the bigger resolution. I removed everything for the Graphic Card and Monitor, downloaded the newest card driver from Gigabyte rather than NVidia. It looks perfect at 1440x900. Currently it just has the Gigabyte NVidia driver for XP and the Monitor drivers are not installed, but nice crisp clear screen at 1440x900 at this stage and no scroll. Since it is an NVidia card I assume that putting newer NVidia software SHOULD allow it to run at the monitor's full resolution, but maybe not.
