Interesting to see how bad IE7 performs.

I had a look at Opera seems quite nice.

Who uses Opera instead of Firefox? What are your reasons?

437673 2006-03-12 19:48:00 I use firefox.. I tried opera for a while.. but firefox just works better for me. I have tried IE7 beta... but there is no reason for me to move to it, and all the security reasons not to.

437674 2006-03-12 19:55:00 Opera fan through and through here.

Reasons? Too many to remember and list but it's fast, highly customisable without having to install millions of extensions that break or need updating with every upgrade and has many built-in features that the other browsers don't have or only have with extensions.

Looking forward to Opera 9 final when the best browser will be ever better.

437675 2006-03-12 21:22:00 Yup, I usually use Opera. But using FF at the mo. Only to block the ads, and flash.

(I've got 8.53 of Opera installed tho).

I was using Adsubtract for the ads, but this program can conflict with quite a few things, including Zonealarm's virus/spyware updating. So, it went in the bin.

I'll get v9 of Opera, once the release version is out, since it'll have a content blocking option, to block ads as part of it.

And Opera's tab browsing is better than FF's. No need to get extensions to get it to work properly. And FF's password option doesnt work for me, without me getting something extra, for it to work. And Opera will also support torrents. And the RSS feeds (IMO) are better than Firefox's.

437676 2006-03-12 21:35:00 Sounds like Opera is really nice. I think I will be switching when v9 comes out. mejobloggs (264)
437677 2006-03-12 21:48:00 I've used it for years :)

Firefox isn't bad, but opera seems cleaner and better organized .

The kicker for firefox however is adblock, its the only feature I miss in opera .

The blocker opetion for opera is not as good, and seems to just not show the blocked advers, whilst adblocker totaly stops it from downloading .

I also have IE7, which actually isn't bad, but still years behind the other two .

I problem I found with IE7 is that it deletes out IE6 . As a result for webdeign I have trouble trying to see what the rest of the world sees . Creating websites with Opera is a false sence of security when you see the hash of CSS that IE makes .

437678 2006-03-12 23:20:00 I really wonder if the code used for the Acid test is just cheating.
Now what would happen if the changed the Acid test image to something else.

Would we still see the correct output or not?

Hmm: for some reason Opera does not like the test site I'm trying out for FussyMX FoxyMX

437679 2006-03-12 23:25:00 Who uses Opera instead of Firefox? What are your reasons? The question should have been "Who uses Mozilla instead of Opera or Firefox?" :p Greg (193)
437680 2006-03-12 23:59:00 No-Script "Extension" for FF is even better. A lot of ads are jscript driven, and you get a lot less ads. If the site requires jscript, you simply enable it and it still blocks out the ad servers. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
437681 2006-03-13 02:03:00 Use Opera on my laptop and FF at home, but mainly an Opera fan. I'll concede FF does a better job of blocking adverts. Winston001 (3612)
