691292 2008-07-23 00:39:00 Hi Guys, I am about to download SP3 --- any tips or problems ????? Cheers Grampsey Grampsey (10603)
691293 2008-07-23 00:49:00 Dont install it, if youve got the old version of Zonealarm installed. Update it first

It may also conflict with Symantec's programs if any are installed

Whats the CPU in the system?? AMD or Intel?

691294 2008-07-23 00:55:00 Yep, do what Speedy said.

I take it you mean Windows XP SP3?

If you are in Wellington I can send you a copy if you like :)

691295 2008-07-23 01:57:00 Thanks Speedy, my CPU is AMD, also on my computer is Zone Alarm and Nortons. Do you recommend that I do as you suggested with Zone Alarm and perhaps turn off Nortons ==== then install SP3 ??? Cheers Grampsey. Grampsey (10603)
691296 2008-07-23 02:09:00 If Nortons is a firewall as well uninstall it .

You shouldnt have 2 firewalls installed. They'll conflict

You may have to install this first BEFORE INSTALLING SP3 (www.microsoft.com)

691297 2008-07-23 02:11:00 Hi jwil1. thanks for your reply and offer, yes it is the Windows XP3 that I'm a bit concerned about installing due to problems that I have heard about. I will download it when I have researched the pro and cons a bit more. Cheers Grampsey. Grampsey (10603)
691298 2008-07-23 02:24:00 Hi Speedy, seems that the SP3 install may not be an option for my computer -- it's 2002 vintage with AMD Athlon XP 1800+ 1.533 HZ CPU. Might be a case of " Leave well alone" ?? Grampsey. Grampsey (10603)
691299 2008-07-23 02:28:00 ? Is that what that patch said?? Did you trying installing the patch first?

SP3 should still install, if you have XP.
