2008-07-27 03:42:00 | Please can anyone help me to find the above driver. I have searched just about everywhere and cannot find where I can download it from. The Microsoft download site is like looking for the proverbial needle! I need to be able to download it to flash drive so I can install it on the laptop. :help:

2008-07-27 04:44:00 | gary67 reply reads like a spammers post :( PCI Simple Communications Controller is your modem. if you don't have the disk for it then you will most likly need to open the pc and read any model numbers off the modem. you can try one of the hardware ID programs but they are hit and miss with modems. if its a no name brand you may have to use generic chipset drivers. ie take note of make and model of the actuall main chip on the modem board and look on their website for drivers.

2008-07-27 04:56:00 | Any idea what make of Modem it is ? This may be a long shot, but go to The Conexant Site (www.conexant.com) - agree to the terms down the bottom, and you will be taken to the driver download page - From the site; HSF modems are primarily PCI plug in cards used in desktop computers, although some internal notebook modems may use this type of modem. There is a list of HSF Generic Modem Drivers and HCF Generic Modem Drivers. I have found that most generic modems will use these HSF drivers.

2008-07-27 05:50:00 | DSE (www.dse.co.nz) have some drivers for a modem which I have used every now and again for 'generic' modems. | jwil1 (65) | |
2008-07-27 08:41:00 | The PCI communications controller is in my Device manager on my HP Compaq notebook. I know that it needs a driver because there is a yellow exclamation mark on it and it doesn't work. When I go to details and look for driver the wizard says insert disc, which I do not have. I can't search the web on the laptop because I cannot connect. It shares an IRQ with Intel proset wireless network adapter. One won't work without the other. I have tracked down the driver I need, v 5.0.2167.1 When I google it, I get several sites to download it from, BUT everyone of them takes me to MSWindows Update! I am getting totally frustrated with this carry on and would just like to know the exact url to get it from. I do appreciate all of your suggestions but I have not had any luck so far.
