692626 2008-07-27 03:20:00 MB: Asus P4PE, HDD: Seagate SATA 120GB

Can't get BIOS to recognise this HDD. HDD tested OK in another computer.

Onboard SATA/IDE RAID Controller set to Enabled; Also tried to set to Disabled but doesn't help.

I think it has something to do with RAID set up. How do I uninstalled the RAID array?

692627 2008-07-27 03:23:00 WHAT are you trying to do? Install Windows on it?

If you are, you probably have to download the SATA drivers and extract them to floppy. Then press F6 during the install, to install them.

You did connect the data and power cable to it right?

Unless its SATA 2, and the P4PE only supports SATA 1. Then you have to flick the jumper at the back of the hdd to 150.

It's SATA 1. But I can't even get BIOS to detect the SATA drive! The built-in RAID Configuration utility program detects the SATA driver correctly, though. Don't tell me that the SATA can only be used for RAID rays in this Motherboard????

692632 2008-07-27 05:21:00 Funny as I couldn't find just a plain p4pe listed on the asus site they all had a suffix and none of the ones I looked had sata on them gary67 (56)
692633 2008-07-27 05:31:00 Yup, I noticed the same thing, (It doesnt appear on the ASUS site).

But the updates / FAQ etc for the P4PE do appear on the ASUS download site

And according to some sites (for reviews) the P4PE does have SATA (2 ports)

And the ASUS forum (vip.asus.com) (for the P4PE) has posts about SATA probs.
