438939 2006-03-17 22:43:00 Not sure if anyone else has mentioned these,

but when i was a boy I had the little dinky record player in a suitcase type case and a pile of storybook records with acompanying books and when the record played there would be a beep to tell you to turn the page,

they were of course a handme down from my father (I am not quite that old yet)

But a lot of them are now available for download in mp3 format from this site and they add a new one each week here (www.kiddierecords.com)
the earlier torrents are dead (no one seeding them) but there are Quarterly torrents (representing every 3 months) that are still seeded here (www.basichip.com) just scroll a down the page a bit

Haven't seen any of the ones i had, but they are definitley very similar

438940 2006-03-19 22:41:00 Thanks Nigel :)

Maybe now I can find a copy of "Chin Chow and the Golden Songbird", a child's story that I have been chasing for over 40 years. :D:D

438941 2006-03-20 01:51:00 Wow!!

Would you believe it?

With a donation of US$5 (Paypal) from me, the owner of Kiddierecords has obtained a copy of the record that I have been chasing for all these years and is going to turn it into a .mp3 file for me

Thats cool, i'll keep an eye out for it on the site as the chinese and arabic derived ones were normally a bit more interesting than the disneyesque ones
I am trying to find a davy crockett one, i can only vaguely remember, all i can remeber is the tune
"Davy, Davy Crocket King of the wild frontier"
I thought it was so cool when i was about 5 (in reality it was probably pretty terrible)

438944 2006-03-23 06:30:00 Surely "Davey Crockett" is available for D/L - have you tried Limewire????

I'm at work and can't remember the name of the Programme I use to download . mp3 sound tracks .

I'll have a look when I get home later tonight :)

Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
The greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods so he knew every tree
Killed him a bear when he was only three
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King of the wild frontier
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King of the wild frontier

Up through the woods he's a marching along
Makin' up yarns and singin' a song
Itching for a fight and rightin' a wrong
Crazy as a bear and twice as strong
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King of the wild frontier
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King of the wild frontier

His land is biggest and his land is best
From grassy plains to the mountain crest
He's ahead of us all a beatin' the test
He follows his lengend into the west
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King of the wild frontier
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King of the wild frontier
Daveyyyyy, Daveyyy Crockett King . . . of . . . the . . . wild . . . frontier

438946 2006-03-23 10:08:00 Fascinating. I well remember Davey Crocket. We kids used to love the school term holidays when there was a special children's program on the radio at 9:00am. Can't remember who compered it but I do remember a song about "Pete Peterson" who was a Swedish lumberjack.

We had a chap in Invercargill called Uncle Clarrie at 4YZ. He did wonderful childrens childrens programs. Sort of an Aunt Daisy (whom I do not remember) for the kids.

Unfortunately I do remember Aunt Daisy. She used to start, Good morning good morning what a beautiful day today." I would look out the window and it was hosing down in Wellington.

2YC in the evening for Mozart and assorted other composers.

I must admit I grew to appreciate music though.
