438077	2006-03-14 17:08:00	accordign to one report this morning a parent said " imagine the screaming match if i tried to take the phone away from my daughter who is being bullied - it's a social lifeline".....ah .....yep ...right... sure it is but ..in the recent sad case where that young girl killed herself if the parent had removed the phone and the kids email access then those methods of bullying wouln'dt have worked would they ? social lifeline indeed.....that it may be but is a cellphone necessary for a teen ?	drcspy (146)

Why does any school kid NEED a cell phone? Why is it necessary for anyone to send stupid text messages in the first place? My solution. 438079	2006-03-14 18:00:00	I don't agree with you there, I am 17 and at school, I have a cellphone, BUT I only use it to sent messages to people, saying if I am late or other things to that effect, I don't get any bullying from it because I don't give out my number. :lol: Have you thought about the consequences with that JJJJJ? 438081	2006-03-14 18:55:00	Ban them in schools for a start, cell phones are not necessary and are an absolute pain for teachers. I'd put cell phones for kids in the same category as dummies & cuddle rugs, the owners can't stand on their own two feet yet. Maybe in time they will learn to use them as the tool they are and not as an attachment to their thumbs. As far as the stupid parents go ~ Wimps should never have kids. You should be ashamed of yourself.I concur. However this is just another scapegoat really. Chances are there's already a nmber of kids who've done themselves in over text bullying - just this one made the news. Give it a few weeks, it'll die down and disappear. Just like instant message bullying, and livejournal bullying and old fashioned picking on kids on the bus/at lunchtime bullying. It won't go anywhere, and it'll still be around, just more accepted.	ninja (1671)
