692762 2008-08-01 04:22:00 Did you install 888111 and the drivers??

888111 only installs the "fix" so you can install the actual soundcard drivers.

888111 by itself doesnt install the drivers.I installed SoundMax from the CD so I assume the drivers were installed. I wouldn't be getting any sound at all if the drivers weren't installed would I.?

692763 2008-08-01 04:27:00 Good point well thats what I was thinking but if the soundmax icon doesnt appear in the taskbar or control panel you havent installed the soundcard drivers.

Unless theres a different icon for HD Audio and AC97 (the other option). This could be why there's no soundmax icon in the taskbar and control panel (if there's no icon here)
