Point it to the commonfiles folderUnfortunately it didn't help. No "I" against the only PCI bus which is working correctly. Appreciate your ongoing interest though.

692754 2008-07-29 04:35:00 Is HD Audio enabled in the BIOS??

I've read on different sites, there's an option in the BIOS for HD Audio and AC97 sound.

Read the manual, for the option in the BIOS to see where it is

The HD Audio needed to be Enabled. I did a restore point and the unknown PCI device showed. I then pointed it to the Common files in KB888111 and everything installed ok. I now have sound. Thanks for your guidance and patience. Cheers, Pat.

692758 2008-08-01 02:55:00 Woohoooo :bananaSmall problem. During my playing around I now get the "Found New Hardware - Media" pop up and I cancel the Wizard. Go into Device Manager under "Sound Video and Games Controller" and there is an Unknown Device. Under options: Update Drivers/Disable/Uninstall/Scan for hardware changes and Properties. I am not sure what action I should take. I assume it happened when I installed SoundMax. Any advice appreciated. Pato (2463)
692759 2008-08-01 03:29:00 Dont cancel the wizard, let it do it's thing, that has most likely come up because you have installed the driver that enables it to be "seen". feersumendjinn (64)

Speedy. Have you any comments?. Pato (2463)
692761 2008-08-01 04:18:00 Did you install 888111 and the drivers??

888111 only installs the "fix" so you can install the actual soundcard drivers.

888111 by itself doesnt install the drivers.
