2006-03-21 10:43:00 | I use the same technique as Shortcircuit when I can't sleep. I cound one "sleep" for every out breath and 1 for every in breath "sleep...sleep...sleep" and it works most of the time...however I still don't get enough sleep. I sleep from about middnight until 7am. I'm 17 and can function on less sleep than alot of my peers, but I notice that when I get less than 8 hours sleep I find it harder to be social with everyone at school, by the time I've though up something funny it's to late because someone else has already said it...8+ hours sleep here I come...i hope. @Personthingy - an actor or film crew? I recon acting would be fun, I do speech and drama which is more stage orientated, (I do more of the speech stream). But the fluctuation of income and very low job security has turned me away from it as a career

2006-03-21 11:33:00 | Winston001 - wow that is a few people . LOL . Can you please elaborate more on your "safe peaceful place" like what works for you . Looks like they call it Sleep Imagery . umm . edu/sleep/relax_tech . html" target="_blank">www . umm . edu Go to that special place in your mind . The sun is shining out of an azure sky with birds chirping in the trees around you . A warm gentle breeze brings the scent of woodland flowers across the grass . You are kneeling beside a tinkling stream . You look into the crystal cool water and you can clearly see underneath the face of your boss as you hold him down . There . That feels better now doesn't it . :D

2006-03-21 20:59:00 | @Personthingy - an actor or film crew? nothing that fancy . . . i work as a sound engineer for smaller shows of personal interest, and as local crew for bigger stuff passing through, which is a glorified way of saying i unload the trucks for touring concerts shows and stuff . . . . Dogsbody work . Of course when the trucks arrive is when they need to, with no consideration for the crews desire to get up at civilized times, and packdown/load out is almost allways from the end of each show and we work until the trucks have left and/or the containers are packed . Regular sleep for me only happens when there is a break between shows . after a while sleep deprivation can be quite fun tee hee . :D It's no surprise that those of us who do this job long term tend to become a bit "eccentric" it hides the fact that were out here doing out demanding stuff when we are having trouble knowing what day it is . I totally depend on the calendar on the tray of my computer to know that today is Tuesday . :p Those i know who do shiftwork often experience similar effects, it can be quite amusing at times

2006-03-22 01:14:00 | Edge of reality... netchicken - Where can someone like me get this? What is the cost? Try any health food place. Valarium are fantastic for giving a natural sleep. I don't think they are expensive at all, I first came across them from a person who was growing the plans in Nelson and selling the roots to companies making the pills.

2006-03-22 10:37:00 | wmoore - I took you suggestion of Kenny G and I download ed 4 songs (all legal) I must say I quite like it :) I am now burning them onto CD to play when I goto sleep, that and Winston001's sleep imagery should work a treat  (I hope :D) | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | |
2006-03-23 02:09:00 | A possible consequence of listening to Kenny G is that you may not want to wake up,but one must agree with the above suggestion of using Valium. | Cicero (40) | |
2006-03-23 10:19:00 | Quite a few people have suggested herbal remedies which can be very good. Valarium is a good well know ingredient (not valium which one humorist suggested !!). I use Blackmore's "Tranquil Nights", which you can get at some chemists and most health food stores. I take two per night for a couple of nights. I don't get much sleep gain the first night but wake up feeling relaxed. The second night I sleep very well and still feel very good and relaxed the next morning. No groggy feeling whatsoever like you get with sleeping pills. Misty
