| 438239 | 2006-03-15 06:44:00 | I'm on the orcon unlimited 256k plan & i got an email saying that they will be discontinuing the current plan. They will be moving me to a 40 gig plan (that is still plenty for me) and unless I switch to orcon tolls, it will cost $10 per month more. With telecom slashing the data allowance per UBS user, I'm surprised that Orcon are able to offer 40gb/month plans. 4 gig per user is ridiculous |

With telecom slashing the data allowance per UBS user, I'm surprised that Orcon are able to offer 40gb/month plans. 4 gig per user is ridiculous I use on average just under 15GB a month but I'll still be moving from Orcon because they will be charging me $10 extra unless I sign up with tolls. And I don't like their toll plans much. I may as well find another provider that offers better toll rates and a 2mbit connection. Looks like Orcon are focusing more now on business customers, and who can blame them in the current environment where Telecom is calling all the shots. The current residential plans are just no longer viable now that Telecom have reduced the average user cap. Seems like broadband is going backwards here (for residential customers, anyway). So much for faster and cheaper. Tis a shame because I've been quite happy with Orcon since they got over their teething problems. But good luck to them - just a shame they are not able to back iHug and Callplus a bit more. |

| 438242 | 2006-03-15 07:15:00 | Me thinks I shall be ditching Orcon, and signing up with one of the companies that told Telecom to shove it, Having balls should be rewarded. | Metla (12) | ||

However if they do sign up (at the moment) they are believed to be precluded from applying to the CommComm for a better deal. This may change though. |

I'm surprised that having a condition like that isn't illegal |

| 438248 | 2006-03-15 20:35:00 | This is outrageous, how can telecom be saying "Cheaper Faster . . . . . " when our plan is near doubling . I got the email form orcon and at the foot it outlays the new pricing and plans structure . There is still a 256/128 unlimited but at $109 . 00 yes ONE HUNDRED AND NINE DOLLARS it makes a complete mockery of our broadband in New Zealand . NOTHING HAS CHANGED . . . . The cheapest plan is still $39 . 95 and is 256k 2g cap . Everything else is more $$$ . Also orcon has removed its forums, nice way to deal with the forthcoming torrent of unhappy customers .
