439851 2006-03-22 06:18:00 I have just updated my subscription to PC World and received the free Altec Lansing headset with microphone . I have not taken it out of the box yet - it looks so really good !!!!!

I am quite excited :nerd:

I might frame it and put it on the wall

This is a great freebee . Katimike you need to get one to complement your Altec Lansing speakers ;)

Or is it still in the box? Or - dare I suggest - framed & on the wall?

439853 2006-03-26 23:11:00 Meh! I got my headphone/microphone set from a shop in Otara, South Auckland (insert big ooooohh) for $13 and they've been the best I've had for years. bob_doe_nz (92)
439854 2006-03-27 05:28:00 Two questions seem obvious:

(1) Brand name?
(2) How many headsets have you owned to compare them with?

439855 2006-03-27 05:33:00 They are pretty good though I haven't used the microphone.
It's handy to have a volume control on the cable.
Been using them with my PSP as those in-ear ones that come with it keep falling out when lying in bed :D

I also got the free Sony 128MB USB drive as I resubscribed to Fast Forward.
Gave it to my mum as I have a 1GB one already.

Hi Laura
I eventually got up the courage tonight to take them out of the plastic wrap. They looked so good it took a bit of determination. Rang No 1 son in Christchurch on Skype and the headset performed very well. Skype itself was a bit patchier than normal. Usually when we rang him when he was in the UK the reception was a bit better. Could be the storms we have been having ?? Anyway felt very professional with the very good earphones and the microphone hovering close to my north and south (mouth). Had to adjust and re-adjust the volumes both in and out.

Up to now I had thought that the existing microphone we had was okay. Well, in fact it is, but not as good as the Altec Lansing -- and not nearly as functional or easy to use.

By the way checked the price of these AHS 202i's and over a variety of prices they ranged from Aussie $23+ to Aussie $33+, so it really is a good deal !!!!! (especially with our falling dollar  )
