Perhaps it's best seen from a great distance. |

Perhaps it's best seen from a great distance. But it's possible that these companies have been using the word Vista for a few years before MS and as such may not have to worry about it. Then again there is a glass company in Jafaville called 'Windows 2000 LTD' |

| 439917 | 2006-03-23 05:41:00 | Good article here from irate Microsoft workers saying its another sign of the fall of MS. Note the managementese / geekspeak "explosive nodal point to get Vista out for a compounded effect." What the heck does that mean? minimsft.blogspot.com I was upset at missing the back-to-school market. Now we're missing the holiday sales market. All of those laptops and PCs are going to have XP on it. What percentage will upgrade to Vista? Well, I guess that's the little dream that I need to give up on. Vista's deployment is going to come from people buying CPUs with the OS pre-installed, not dancing down the CompUSA aisle as they clutch that boxed version of Vista to their loving chest. So not only did we miss last year's opportunity, we're missing this year's opportunity, too. With the convergence of high-tech media, this holiday season would have been an explosive nodal point to get Vista out for a compounded effect. |

I read the thread up until the time I posted and read the other replies. You are rather naiive if you don't think the thread you started will not lead to an argument sooner or later. Anyway I won't be going to the shop to buy Vista when it comes out. My current WinXP works here and at the moment I can't see what Vista will do for me. I have no problem uprading when I need to. After all I started with MSDOS 3.3. Missed out on Windows until Win3.11 |

| 439922 | 2006-03-23 21:35:00 | I am still on Win2K. WinXP does nothing for me. It is just extra baggage. VISTA will be the same. Outgoing Firewall - Check (Zone Alarm) Spyware Protection - Check (Spybot, AdAware, Spyware Blaster) Secure Browser / Tabbed - Check (Firefox) Process Control - Check (Process Guard) Admin Access Control - Check (Good Security Configuration) Now what were the reasons we need to upgrade. Oh! Thats right. Use more CPU and RAM. More PC upgrades, sales, etc. |

| 439923 | 2006-03-23 21:48:00 | Even if I did still use Windows (I dual boot to XP Pro occassionally) I wouldn't be bustin my ass to get Vista anyway. AS Kiwitt says, got everything, don't need anymore. Why spend $2000 (on hardware upgrades) +OS just to be one of the Jones's. Stick with what I know works and works well :) | Myth (110) | ||
