693437 2008-07-29 22:09:00 Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how to connect a Windows NT 4.0 SP6 Workstation to a Windows Server 2003 domain?

I have downloaded a trial copy of Server 2003 Enterprise and am trying it out on a VM. I can attach other real and virtual Windows 2000 Pro/XP Pro machines to it.

Also, how can I redirect the 'My Documents' folder in each user account to go to the home drive (H) on the server, rather than the local machine and the desktop to redirect to a folder on the server too?

693438 2008-07-29 22:20:00 You may have to do this ? (support.microsoft.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
693439 2008-07-29 23:56:00 Use Group Policys for User doc's, I think its under user setting, folder redirector....

As for connecting NT to 2003 A/D, i'm not sure, I havent started a NT box for over 9 yrs!....Are you looking for the system app, or non-standard instructions...?

693441 2008-07-30 00:19:00 You are showing Local Policies.....are you on the 2003 server, should be domain policies, you are using wrong snap-in!

When you click to add the snap-in it should ask for an object, use browse to select your domain

User Config>Windows Settings>Folder Redirection

693442 2008-07-30 00:37:00 lol I'm really new to Server 03 networking - I'm studying it in a few weeks at uni and want to get a bit of background knowledge.

These are the Administrative tools I have on the server - which one should I go into to set the redirection for MyDocs?

Can you give me step by step instructions? :)

693443 2008-07-30 00:53:00 I think this is what you're after (technet2.microsoft.com)

BUT, as it says:

Redirection to the home directory requires a client computer running Windows XP Professional, Windows XP 64-bit Edition (Itanium), or a Windows Server 2003 operating system.

It does not work for Windows NT clients, Windows 2000 clients, or Windows XP Home Edition clients.

693444 2008-07-30 01:38:00 Ahh, of course, if Win 2000 cant use roaming profiles, I'm not surprised NT cant redirect folder SolMiester (139)
693445 2008-07-30 01:43:00 Update...

I have installed Group Policy Management and successfully linked it to my domain. I have set folder redirection for the Desktop (to \\server\files\desktop) and My Docs (to home dir).

BUT when I log on, it's exactly the same as before - no redirected folders!
