1429328 2016-12-01 03:07:00 Windows Live Mail is constantly malfunctioning so I have been browsing and saw Microsoft Outlook. I am running W10. Via my browser (Chrome) I have a basic version but it doesn't have any tools, title bar, etc. It just has a list of folders down the left-hand side - Inbox, Sent, Trash etc. I did find one place to d/l it - my ESET anti-virus didn't like it, and although there was an icon on my desktop, I got a message that it couldn't find the file when I tried to click on it to run....

Using the basic version I did manage to send a message to a friend and attached two photos. which she received fine - I sent a copy to myself and I got the email but not the photos.

Wainui Tech - I seem to remember you saying W10 was fun.... I have yet to be convinced....

Thats sounds like its Fake or pirated, you WONT get a legit copy of Outlook /Office for free. (Only a Time limited trial)

Theres a couple of ways to Get Outlook.

1. You can buy outlook seperatly but who would ? its EXPENSIVE on its own.

2. You can Buy microsoft office, which contains - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote a one time payment. You would need to buy the business edition as the cheaper version ( home and student) doesn't contain Outlook.

3. You can get Office 365, yearly subscription, of either Personal which has a single user, or home premimum which has 5 user. Both contain Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,Access, Publisher, OneNote.

Wainui Tech - I seem to remember you saying W10 was fun Theres nothing wrong with W10, so I ask -- Why are you trying to get paid software for Free ?

The REAL Outlook or Office files wont trigger Nod32, only Pirated or fake files will do that. Cant go blaming a Operating system if a person tries to do pirating, download fake files. Getting Office from any other site ( to download) apart from Microsoft is asking for trouble. Whose fault is it if a person doesn't know what they are doing ?

Real classic example of that (and it was hard not to laugh) ,I was at a persons place a couple of days ago, they were having problems with their router, they made all sorts of comments about W10 saying they wouldn't have it on their Laptop - No Way, I asked why - they couldn't answer

Then to make matters even more comical, they said they like the OS they had now-- SURPRISE  they had been using W10 since October LAST YEAR :waughh: -- Stunned silence :)

1429330 2016-12-01 04:19:00 Thanks for your reply.... maybe it is time I looked at Thunderbird.... I don't need the business edition of office..... I just like to have my emails on my computer so I can have them backed up.... I don't intend to pay for a subscription as the amount of office work I do doesn't warrant it.... I saw "Outlook free download" and assumed it was free - I did not intend to pirate anything.... guess I should be more wary in future.... really I just want an email programme which allows me to save important messages on my desktop and then back them up.... I suppose I could always use webmail and copy/paste into a Word document and save info. that way but it is a tad tedious.... I used to use Outlook Express and didn't realise how lucky I was.... smile Bryden (4161)
1429331 2016-12-01 04:37:00 Thunderbird is fine if a person wants to use it.

As for Outlook Being free -- No no no ;)

The only version that was free, is Office Starter 2010, came with W7 if OEM's installed it or you could download it from Microsoft, some places say you cant install it on W10 ;) Wanna bet, can if you know how :D

If you google Outlook ( wont put full search term), you will see the following - (in picture) - looks legit at first glance eh ?? but its fake and triggers Nod32, wont even allow you to download.

It looked interesting , but then.....
cubiq.org

Just dont. I would never that that email client now . :)

Im pretty sure you can buy Outlook by itself direct from MS ,
or just use thunderbird : plenty of support , well known & widely used (but hard to import mail & contacts back to Outlook if you change your mind)

Outlook has allways been easy to import data (pst) from old to new PC & easy to import data going from very old to new version.
Outlook is not so good with imap though .
