| 1429024 | 2016-11-21 20:07:00 | I know it has been discussed several times here before but again I just fail to get the updates for this fresh new install of Win7 x86 (yes, it's 32 bit system as one of the the old programs doesn't like 64 bit). I have tried all sorts of tricks and fixed but just couldn't get it to pass the " ... Checking for updates ..." KB3138612-x64.msu won't work as this is a 32bit install. MS is driving me crazy ... |

In Bold -- Errrrrrr yeah it wont, notice the one listed says X64 and your OS is 32bit ? You will need KB3138612-x86 You need the X86 update -support.microsoft.com That's the download page to select which one you want. :) |

| 1429026 | 2016-11-21 21:04:00 | I downloaded the x86 as in your link, run it, but strangely, a small windows opens: " Windows Updates Standalone installer Searching for updates on this computer ... " ... and is still searching ... back to the drawing board. |

| 1429027 | 2016-11-21 21:06:00 | I'm seeing this issue more & more , especially on re-installs & Win7 PC's that havnt been on for a few months Heres what I do, for me , just the single patch doesnt allways do the trick : in fact Ive never fixed this issue just with a single patch :) make sure its SP1 *** set winupdates to never, restart win & stop (not disable) WindowsUpdate service : otherwise just running the patches will cause it sit on to "looking for updates" *** disconnect from internet if possible (not needed if stop the update service) install patch KB3020369 install convenience rollup KB3125574 : this is all updates untill May download & install July rollup : this has a update fix not included in Aug rollup download & install install Aug rollup download & install install sept, Oct, Nov update rollups now Set Windows updates to auto(or notify) & run Winupdates via the usual wizard thingy |

" ... and is still searching ... back to the drawing board. often does that, yet another bug set winupdates to never check, restart PC & turn stop the Windowsupdate service (services.msc) . Disconnect from internet if possible . |

| 1429031 | 2016-11-23 05:47:00 | You need to restart the computer and then run that update immediately. Also have the computer disconnected from the network/internet. |

| 1429032 | 2016-11-23 20:00:00 | On one hand Microsoft emphasises so much on Windows updates, but on the other hand MS makes it almost impossible to get the updates! What the hell is all this about? |

If its any consolation, The install I did last night is doing the same as yours. Working on it though - Well will be after doing some real work. :) The problem is that Windows 7 is no longer supported, its gone end of life, its gone the exact same way as XP. |
