1427559 2016-10-16 02:24:00 One thing we have found.
The speedo would drop to zero. Holding the trip meter cured it temporarily

Did a google and checked the speed sensor, that checked out OK, so husband sprayed up behind the speedo bits with CRC, twiddled with the trip meter again and so far so good.

But seems a common thing with mid '90s Nissan's?

BIL said he had one for 14 years, no issues at all with anything else (inc mechanicals) but his would do that too - sometimes. He never fixed it, it would come and go throughout the time he had it.

Thoughts?

I am sorry I know little about the electronics on cars. I just go to Swanson Auto Electrical and they help me out.

1427561 2016-10-16 20:11:00 I had weird speedo issues on a previous car I bought

The cause : mileage had been wound back & they didnt re-assemble the speedo correctly :annoyed:
Simple fix was pull the speedo out & fix it .

1427562 2016-10-16 21:10:00 Could be the reason for the low K's?

1427563 2016-10-17 01:15:00 No....mileage indicator and trip meter work.
Needle on speedo is the issue.

I did a carjam check (I'm not trusting at all), she did own it from import, she was a little old lady and she did do less and less mileage as she got older. Mileage is as genuine as you get with imports.

1427564 2016-10-17 03:54:00 I understand. I am a bit the same. Bought my new Suzuki Vitara mid Feb this year. Did a 750K trip a couple of weeks ago which pushed the K's up to the grand total of 3750K in 8 months.

Thats about 500K per month

1427565 2016-10-17 05:05:00 In the old days when the speedo was driven by a cable off the gearbox they would flicker and the fix was to pull out the inner cable and grease it. God knows how you check the modern ones with a sender. prefect (6291)
