1427537 2016-10-15 19:14:00 We already do have laws to protect the rich they come courtesy of the national party of fools gary67 (56)
1427538 2016-10-15 19:32:00 I look upon silly crimes where a youth or young man doing a silly crime for the first time as being a case where a little mercy is OK. That is where the sentence called "Diversion" is used with quite a good sucess rate I am told.

However, in a case like this, one thinks of Dr Mengele applying for name suppression, as it might affect his future in medical research?

Or am I being to harsh?

Ken

The millionaire has interim name suppression and will seek to keep his identity secret permanently at his sentencing hearing in December.
This will be argued on the grounds of the damage to the business from any negative publicity

Seems if someone does a crime if its going to have a negative effect they will get off.

Lets see, a donation to charity, smack on the hand -- Sweep under the table.

No. Why does everything have to be national's fault?
Did we not have name suppression for the rich an famous when we had the Labour government?

Whining at National does nothing if the alternative is exactly the same in this regard.

1427541 2016-10-16 00:07:00 It has nothing to do with the government of the day. It is up to the judicial system as to how the laws are interpreted and applied in any particular case. If you can afford to employ the best lawyers you can exploit any gaps that exist. CliveM (6007)
1427542 2016-10-16 06:04:00 However it has become more rampant in the last 8 years gary67 (56)
