| 1426860 | 2016-10-03 16:54:00 | needs support UTSM/WCDMA 850/2100 for skinny. would prefer a dualsim phone with buttons like this one (www.aliexpress.com 201602_1_10056_10065_10068_10055_10054_112_10069_1 0059_110_111_418_10073_10017_109_10070_108_10060_1 0061_10052_10062_10053_10050_10051,searchweb201603 _4&btsid=646c0463-d4bf-436f-b0b2-78fca354b252) but with skinny support willing to trade a f320 and some sort of alcatel 3000g. etiher one for a skinny brick or both for a dualsim (preferaBLY WITH BUTTONS) i'd prefer one without a touch screen.im displeased with the way technology is progressing, just concerned longevity hasn't been a shining strength of touchscreens and hinges... ever. |

| 1426861 | 2016-10-04 01:02:00 | Import yourself a Xiaomi Redmi 3S. Can land them for NZD~$200 and you cannot find a better device under the $500 mark! | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||
| 1426862 | 2016-10-04 03:52:00 | Chill - you say they are great. What is it about them that is so good? My current 'cheapy' from Spark is pretty limited... | R.M. (561) | ||

| 1426864 | 2016-10-04 21:57:00 | a very nice phone indeed. the phone i linked to was $14usd $NZ39 ,. skinny phone www.skinny.co.nz If you wait , can sometimes find basic ph's on for special even less at the big stores. Try Noel Lemming, Warehouse, Warehouse stationary etc etc & see whats on offer at the mo. The really cheap NZ ph's will probhably be locked to one provider . Dont know about you comment re hinges. My T39 flip-phone is 10 years old & still going strong (I did have to buy a new batt from ebay: US$1 !!! ) I great ph with a full 4 line display . :) Button phones are a pain in the a$&*$ for txting though |

Apple brags about iPhones lasting with "All day battery life" (1 single day), but all the people I know with the Redmi 3S will regularly get 2-4 days outta them with solid use between charges. They feel nice in the hand, the fingerprint reader on the back is perfect for waking the phone up etc Screen, nice and vibrant 720p display Price... AMAZING, like you won't find a comparable smartphone for <$500 |

Chill, that looks excellent, I haven't been happy with any android device under $300 since the Asus Zenfone5. Do you happen to have a particular place or seller you've got one from before, and is getting them working in NZ without any Chinese apps etc easy to do? Thanks! |

| 1426867 | 2016-10-05 02:15:00 | Just looking, it doesn't seem to do 700MHz LTE? That's annoying... | wratterus (105) | ||
| 1426868 | 2016-10-05 02:51:00 | Yeah I imported almost a dozen from AliExpress, just flashed them myself to MIUI8 in EDL (Emergency Download Mode) and it was a quick 3-4 minute process per phone. Means it removes all the extra "Chinese stuff", but puts the Play Store etc on there. All 100% official firmware direct from Xiaomi too :) |

| 1426869 | 2016-10-05 03:05:00 | Mint, thank you. Am I right about the band 28 LTE? I guess it would just fall back to 3G if it was in an area with no band 3 coverage, I wouldn't think Spark are going to discontinue their 3g network anytime in the foreseeable future so it should probably be OK. | wratterus (105) | ||
