1427410 2016-10-21 00:18:00 Got a battery for a laptop a few months back--Flipping hell  No other battery place in NZ could get them ( the model required) EMPR- said had in stock, delivery 1-2 days :clap
.

Visparts & Exeed could be worth a try, next time for HP (both authorised HP parts resellers)
I remember EMPR having import issues with batts not that long ago, due to the ongoing lithium/airline cargo ban. A poor excuse though, just send them to NZ via ship.

My mistake before- It was a Toshoba Battery Not HP.

But this is what I got store.emprgroup.co.nz

EMPR must be pretty clever chaps. They can ship before they have the parts :)

1427416 2016-10-31 15:15:00 i would strongly suggest an ITX build and a screen with a built-in USB hub.

that way you get a easy to maintain computer for the next 10-20 years, that you can hide under the desk, with a monitor featuring all the ports you'd expect from an all-in-one on the desk.

I am very much looking forward to the eventual replacement of vga/dvi/hdmi/displayport with usb3.1/4.0
maybe with usb4.0 they can finally bring eSATAp into the fold.

1427417 2016-10-31 16:12:00 for the case i'd go with a coolermaster elite 130 for $70, other than ITX everything else is bog-standard.
ASRock h110m-ITX/ac can be had for $130, provides everythign you'd expect form a modern motherboard
Intel core i5 6400 is only $250 but really you could any processor for usecase as described in your original post.
dvd drive is maybe $40, bluray $100
16GB stick of ddr4 is less than $120

whist a fullHD monitor with usb3 hub can be had for less than $300, once you bump the resoltion up you're in the $500-1000 range and the sizes naturally increase too. if you're happy with yoru current all-in-one's screen then look no further than a cheap screen. link to pricespy filter i though was suitable pricespy.co.nz

ok im tired, maybe these ideas will inspire more discussion.
depending on the cpu/screen you can build a decent itx system for less than a grand, less than 2grand if you want the realyl nice screen and lots of storage

remember a comptuer is an investment much like a car. unlike a cellphone if you treat it well it might last longer than you.

1427418 2016-10-31 19:29:00 I think there are pros and cons.
AIO pros
Compact
Convenient
All hardware known to work together
No cables needed for most things

AIO cons
Difficult to repair
Very limited upgrade options
Cooling
If any part fails the whole thing can end up scrap.

That said I replaced a low powered NUC/ 24" monitor combo with an i5 powered AIO and prefer it in my bedroom where space is at a premium. On a desk I'd suggest a NUC and a nice monitor. www.pbtech.co.nz
For example, makes itx look huge.

1427419 2016-11-02 22:01:00 Like the look of the NUC and might be a cheaper route - looking at the spec - assume I need to price in memory, HD (and screen) - anything else? Kiwibarge (17505)
