A soldering station usually includes an isolated power supply (prevents bright blue flashes if you try to arc-weld a live connection), a wiping mat to clean the tip, and a tray to hold tips of different size or temperature. I've just used a my 'fine-work' tip, which is a little longer in the body (to store more heat?) and a very fine tip. More modern stations allow you to dial up the temperature you want, but I've always found that three heat levels are quite adequate, including on micro-electronics (the lowest), the rest is experience and soldering technique. More modern stations than my aging relic allow you to dial up the temperature that you want, so tip sizes are the only changeable option.

PS The operation on the remote was successful and it is currently in recovery reading a 'cough' adult magazine and complaining about all the voice commands that are making him and his ilk redundant!
