| 1427266 | 2016-10-13 06:02:00 | What exactly with the hoses? Fail often? Crappily made? Hard to get at? Something else? They fail prematurely the hose quality is ok they are Bridgestone. It a combination age, mileage external heat from the engine, high power steering fluid temperature caused by having a lot of rubber hosing and little piping. The piping is the only cooling the fluid gets. Also they have tight radius bends on the hose and that is where they leak or under the ferrule. It would be extremely unlikely its still got its original. They take about 30 minutes to get out and refit and would cost around $150.00 at a hose shop to remake depending wether they fit the 3 restrictors back in the hose. If restrictors not refitted the system is noisy when the steering is moved although you only notice it parking etc. Audi were another one that crapped out and they had a plastic restrictor tube, being European you could charge moonbeams to fix them. Some people when leaking just topped them up when they heard the pump whining as it runs out of oil and lubrication. You would make a new hose for these clowns and they would try to blame you for the noisy pump. Standard reply get a big one up you. |

Haven't had a chance to look much, he's been out since he got it. Do an oil change and filter this weekend and have a look at other stuff as well. |

He said he could drive it another year before it's dead. Hmmm, already spent far more than it's worth really. It's up the drive on road with a sign too, someone stopped the other day, nearly had a heart attack on the spot when he saw the mileage. |
