2016-11-19 02:25:00 | I have recently purchased a new ASUS Laptop, and have encountered the most extra-ordinary and irritating bug. The system is running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit - came with it pre-installed, I elected not to take the upgrade to windows 10 This problem arises in MS word and also in e-mails, blogs and HTML. One can be typing text, when with out provocation, the text will appear mixed in with text already typed. If one edits text in the course of producing the document e-mail or what ever, this appears to act as a trigger to scrambling the text with what is typed inserted earlier in the document, at the location of the edit, or in the line spacing between paragraphs. Has anyone an idea as to how this problem can be sorted toMany thanks in anticipation stop this bloody annoying scrambling of text. It just did it as i was concluding this post - see text in italics Once again many thanks in anticipation Ken Smith

If you do have a mouse then I would set the trackpad software to disable when the mouse, or dongle, is plugged in. |

2016-11-19 08:25:00 | You could try turning down the tapping sensitivity of the trackpad. If you hit the keys hard while typing, it can trigger the trackpad to shift the text elsewhere. | ninox (17264) | |
2016-11-19 10:45:00 | Just a thought, but are you having any other odd behaviour with this laptop? I would do a thorough memory test (as I recall, it is an option in the Windows F8 boot menu. I don't use Windows so I'm not certain about that). Memory faults can cause the strangest problems, not always show stoppers but subtle errors like you're having.

2016-11-19 22:30:00 | My bet is memory module related. Why not take it back to the vendor, you have made several posts with this machine. | PENTIUM (426) | |
2016-12-01 07:27:00 | My bet is memory module related. Why not take it back to the vendor, you have made several posts with this machine. I contacted the outlet that sold me the Laptop Computer Alliance, and they told me to bring it in, although it could be several days before they could sort it out, so I contacted ASUS Service Centre in Sydney, and got this reply: Thank you for contacting ASUS Service Care. My name is Dustin and it's my pleasure to help you with your problem. I would like to apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience that you experienced with ASUS product and service recently. For your request, I would like to suggest you to download and install the latest version of ATK. I would like to suggest you do the below steps to fix the problem: 1. Download the files below ATK 2. Get into Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program > Uninstall ATK Package 3. Restart your computer 4. Install the downloaded files at step 1 5. The problem should be fixed now If the problem still persists, I would like to suggest you to bring your device to Asus Service Centre for further help. This is the Local Service Centre search, for your information: www.asus.com 1. Enter this site 2. Enter your address and product category Then you could find the local service center which is the closest to you. Once again, I extend my own apologies for the inconvenience this problem has caused you, and I look forward to resolving these issues for you If you have any further questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to let us know. We will be more than happy to assist you. Thanks! Wish you a nice day! Best regards, Dustin Customer Service Center ASUSTek Computer Inc. Asus Technical Support Site: http://support.asus.com This suggests to me, that this problem is not unique to me, Problem is that I am having just a bit of a problem locating the exact ATK File to download because they do not have one with my Notebooks product number. So i will have to go back to ASUS and ask them to identify it and supply a link. Thanks to everyone for your input. Ken
