1427755 2016-10-23 22:54:00 I'm not a fan of Country and Western Music - a very small portion is okay but the majority is not - but I understand it is the most popular music of all time.:waughh: I have heard it described as "mediocre music for mediocre people" and I think that mainly that is true. I was brought up with music from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s and very occasionally a country and western song would make it into the top ten. A good example is Jim Reeves' "He'll Have To Go." That was very popular in 1959. But mostly country and western keeps to the country and western music fans of which there are plenty.

I have been to a country and western concert - I did not stay long - and thought they dressed like children in their cowboy outfits. Is that really necessary? Each to his own I suppose but I do believe that I will stick with rock 'n' roll.

1427756 2016-10-23 23:15:00 My thoughts as well. We had a down the road neighbour in the 70's who was mad on it. We would be invited to a BBQ and when we got there it would be a case of.... "Have you heard this one?" and on would go the stereo and a much worn LP would start scratching out some song about maybe " files on the cows shite behind the old barn door"

Bluddy Nora, no wonder we always managed to find an excuse after a while!

Ken :)

1427757 2016-10-23 23:49:00 Remember the late 50s and early 60s though when every body had Trini Lopez, Bert Kaempfert, "Somebody meets "Somebody" records, which you were all you heard at parties, then along came Bob Dylan, the Stones and the Beatles. Yayyyyyy!!!!! Richard (739)
1427758 2016-10-24 00:02:00 It would be a bl**dy boring world if everyone liked the same stuff. CliveM (6007)

Have to agree. From 64 on when The Beatles and the Rolling Stones came on the scene.

1427760 2016-10-24 00:16:00 ..."Conniff Meets Butterfield".....that was it. Richard (739)
1427761 2016-10-24 00:19:00 Couldn't agree more! I also like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Monteverdi and many many others. Music depends on your mood, and your mood on the music. It was one of mankind's greatest genius moments. Richard (739)
1427762 2016-10-24 00:20:00 What I hate is when music from one genre is re-released in another -- More often than not its a total disaster.

Imagine if "Another One Bites the Dust" was released in country style  :waughh:

1427763 2016-10-24 00:23:00 "Magic Radio" has stations in most towns now in AM & FM. Would be right up your alley. Great following here in Blenheim. :-) :-) BobM (1138)

Listen to it all the time. They play The Beatles a lot. Love it!
