1427041 2016-10-08 18:45:00 I'm sticking with Win7 until I'm forced to upgrade but for anybody tempted to pay for Win 10,
believing that the free upgrade time has expired, read this:-

1427042 2016-10-08 19:23:00 Microsoft are going to Release Telemetry again (Get Windows 10)
Reason unclear at this stage, maybe some were living under a rock when first introduced

Probably dangling carrots to induce more to change to Windows 10

davescomputertips.com That article - #3 especially is incorrect.
but Windows 10 will work perfectly, for the most part. Of course, you won’t have access to any online benefits which you could otherwise enjoy by having a valid, While it will install many of the settings are deactivated, you cant even change basic settings normally.

@ Dave -- So what OS is Perfect - Certainly NOT linux or iOS- So what else is there that the general public use ?

Manufactures of software will develop their programs generally for Windows and iOS before its done for linux ( if at all)?

1427048 2016-10-08 21:06:00 Some of the Big changes in updates have put a lot off

If you are a business and find a update has left you high and dry with something not working for some reason has made people think twice about upgrading

People and Businesses had the choice to move from say XP to Vista/Win7 and do it when they wanted to not like now when a Win 10 update can bork your system for some reason and it will still happen if they continue their update strategy

You’re absolutely right Lawrence.

In my case I purchased a new laptop with Win8/8.1 already installed.

Well DOS was better than that rubbish, so when the opportunity presented itself I upgraded to Win 10.

Now, I’m on record as saying at the time I quite liked Win 10, it was snappy to open and shut and everything seemed to work fine.

And then came the Updates, everyone a giant step backwards, until now the whole computer is as slow as the second coming and I spend most of my time trying to fix it.

After the last update Three Programmes disappeared completely without trace. I reinstalled them and they work, but that’s not the point.

Then there is the Wife’s Laptop where the Camera became upside-down after an update and a Win 7 Driver had to be installed to fix it, and now, after the last update, the camera can’t even be found.

Now I know a lot of the problems are fixable, but there are a lot of people out there, whose knowledge of Computers is restricted to turning them on and off, aren’t happy about paying for a Technician to fix things every week.

From where I sit I think the problem is that Microsoft, in a plan to save money, engaged any Tom Dick or Harry to do their testing for free. Sure they became “Insiders” which made them feel important, but at the end of the day, as the old adage goes, “You pay Peanuts, you get Monkeys”.
