694106 2008-08-01 07:11:00 Magic DVD Ripper (www.magicdvdripper.com/) will rip DVD+ but not RWs.

When you run the program, select 'Original MPEG2 (www.imagef1.net.nz)' for the fastest possible rip, without losing any quality.

You get five free rips before you are forced to pay for it.

Keep in mind, however, that ripping a commercial DVD using this or any other program is not legal.

694109 2008-08-01 07:28:00 If you've got a DV cam with firewire, use Moviemaker.

Just make sure your hdd is formatted in NTFS

694110 2008-08-01 08:19:00 If it's on a DVD (that will only go in a PC DVD drive - not their camera) I would consider getting a free ripper the easiest and most foolproof way, but that's just my opinion... :)

Otherwise Speedy's suggestion is the best IMO.

694111 2008-08-01 10:30:00 Thanks for the replies so far.

OK let's clarify a few things here.....

1. This is NOT a commercial DVD - it is, as I said in my first post, some home video that has been presented to me on a DVD.

2. It IS on a DVD - a DVD+R to be precise - no camera or anything else, just the disk.

3. I want to copy from the DVD to the PC's hard drive.

Hope this helps. Thanks again.

694114 2008-08-01 23:42:00 Well that was easy - as you said Speedy, just a matter of dragging and dropping the file......why didn't I think of that? 0/10 for brain awarded to me.....:groan: slofox (5767)
