| 443471 | 2006-04-03 11:07:00 | If the Pf1 people were to replace there existing tv's what sort, brand, size etc would you consider? :waughh: Plasma, LCD or projector on wall thingy? budget or no budget? would it make a difference? I may be looking for new tv soon and am trying to work out what i need and what i actually want.... Dream is a wall projector tv, but id be happy with a 43 inch ...if budget would allow...LOL comments please.... and what sort of things should i look out for....? beetle :thumbs: |

| 443472 | 2006-04-03 11:14:00 | 42" sony or panasonic lcd would do me. I got a philips now & i hate it + they never reply to emails + when you can get a tech to look at it they are blind & deaf. My telly's still got the same faults as when I bought it, they just seem to think it's normal. | 443473 | 2006-04-03 11:16:00 | With a smaller budget: 40-inch Bravia S Series (2006 model) With a bigger budget: 40-inch Bravia V Series (2006 model) Without a budget: 46-inch Bravia X Series Personally I would definitely go for an LCD, unless you want a really, really big screen in which case a projector would be your only option. :) |

| 443476 | 2006-04-03 12:04:00 | Read the latest "Silicon Chip" magazine, and you will strike Plasma off the list! Poor resolution (optimised for US system, poor for NZ system) and high power consumption. Have seen some mediocre results from "no-name" LCDs, but mainstream brands seem OK. Just bought a Panasonic LCD, it seems fine. Probably the Sanyo line from the red shed may be the best "branded" value at present. The lower cost of LCDs has driven the price of older CRT TVs to an all-time low. |

| 443478 | 2006-04-03 12:31:00 | I would go with the Bravia series of LCD TVs It is the only LCD TV that I like Picture wise. If I couldn't afford a LCD I would get a Phillip's 100Hz CRT TV. |

They are talking about stopping production of crt in the next couple of years . argghh no ! ! seriously . . . . a guy i know down the road here has got a 50 odd inch plasma, a 32 inch sony 50hz crt and a 14" lcd (bedroon tv) . frankly the sony is as good as the plasma . lcd's tebd to have that funny look, 100hz have that ditigal look to the picture and the plasma is only better due to the larger size (tho it cost 6x the price of the crt) . i get to see the sort of pics peole put up with and what they call good . . . . trust me most people cannot tell the difference between a $300 crt and a $10,000 plasma . and i'll bet most lasma owners can't tell the difference between their sets and a good CRT . |
