443278 2006-04-03 01:30:00 I just thought I would mention this as pathetically funny .

I have MyFlash, a 1gig flash drive that has caused me upteen amounts of trouble .

Anyway i am off overseas soon for a holiday and I want to take my internet connections to work on my site and upload new pics and pages etc .

So I figured that I had better put some security on the flash drive so that if it gets stolen I havn't lost all my passwords etc .

Using the software with the drive i partitioned the drive into a private password protected area, gave it a password and then loaded my programs in .

I decided to check out the password security and loaded the flash on another machine . yep you can't get in without the password . hang on, there is a format window available, I wonder if . . . . . . . . . . . . and formatted my entire flash drive .

So if I lose it the next person can just format your flash and carry on with it . Sure you don't lose your passwords, but they gain a free drive .

443280 2006-04-03 02:52:00 Yes, I darn well hope that you can format any drive. In other news, I can boot of a CD and reset Windows admin passwords.. :) Only laptops such as the Thinkpad have features that make it difficult for thieves..

What is worse is that some of the supplied password protection schemes the flash drive makers provide, turn out to be weak/flawed.
