Woopie do!!!!!!!!!!. Now what standard of HDTV will they adpopt??

576P, 720i, 720P, 1080i or 1080P. And will it be compatable with what the FTA broadcasters decide on or will we need 2 or 3 different set top boxes??

443178 2006-04-03 03:21:00 NO one knows yet you will have to wait until it gets here, i presume that tvnz and canwest will probably have their own set top box. Hitech (9024)

And will it be compatable with what the FTA broadcasters decide on or will we need 2 or 3 different set top boxes??Well, it won't be 576P, 720i and it would be very unlikely to be 1080p due to lack of content. My guess would be 720p for most content with 1080i for sports.

It's definitely a good move by Sky. Hopefully TVNZ and Canwest will follow suit with HD FTA.

443180 2006-04-04 03:34:00 My friend emailed skytv and they said that:

"When the Optus D2 satellite is launched SKY will benefit from a more modern and reliable service, from having a fallback satellite in case of problems and from having more capacity. In order to take advantage of D2 SKY is already rolling out dual-throat LNBs to customers when we visit. New services will be announced around the time when the satellites are put in place. SKY will be looking at using some of the new capacity for HDTV"

So is skytv only fitting NEW customers with dual-throat LNB's or it it ringing up ALL its existing customers too?

443181 2006-04-04 03:54:00 From what i gather when i had sky out for a technical problem they replaced my dual throat lnb automatically the tech also said that if anybody has a problem with any sky related fault they will replace the old lnb with a new one he also went on to say it will take three years to do the whole country as sky has 640,000 digital subscribers.
