442749 2006-04-01 08:44:00 Mine does occasionally - and today's the day.

Anyone who's interested in how blatantly the media can print lies to hoodwink the public can find an example on today's Otago Daily Times front page.

Is anyone else's peddling similar stuff?
(Sorry, my link's timing out. Try via google maybe)

(Woried about the Googlebots, maybe?)

442754 2006-04-03 09:38:00 Well, this has proved a real fizzer for what I hoped might have been an interesting thread.

Seemingly NZ newspapers have lost their sense of humour, together with their independence, after buy-ups by the monster media.

The best I got was on the phone yesterday:"Yeah, I think The Herald had something, but I forget what it was."
And by then, its website showed Sunday's edition. Stuff had nothing.

Local jokes are fun.
Sad that nobody's convinced the conglomerates who now own our newspapers.

442755 2006-04-03 09:51:00 Newspaper editors and journalists have their own opinions just like the rest of us. Trouble is they often publish them as facts. JJJJJ (528)
442756 2006-04-03 09:53:00 You have a fair point Laura. I guess that by the time I saw your thread the front page had changed and I couldn't work out what I was supposed to look at. Have you got a link to the original article?

442757 2006-04-03 15:43:00 If you mean The Herald, Andrew, I wouldn't have a clue.
I'm in Dunedin - still wondering what the mighty North Island newspaper may/not did for April !st?
Of course I tried Google, but no luck.

Unfortunately, my own Otago Daily Times, which did make the humour effort, seems to have decided this was also a good date to hit online people with details of a new system.

Now it costs for the diigital edition ( no problems daily) but also for the archive search.
So if I hadn't saved the original story on Saturday, it seems I'd have had to pay for it today...
