442649 2006-04-06 20:04:00 Sorry, but for me, it just drags on & on.

Apologies for the mis-spelling. Quite unlike me, but I sold the album on the aforementioned TradeMe, so couldn't check the spelling.

Try listening to their cover of the Skyhooks song Women in Uniform.

Still prefer Queen, anyway.

Of course you do - Queen had one of the best singers & one of the best guitarists of their time (Some people say of all time, but I'm not old enough to judge that)

I was just looking through my Maiden collection & found that I do indeed have powerslave. I'll have to listen to it again. I was sure I had number of the beast & not powerslave, but it would appear to be the other way round.
I have 3 of their albums: Iron Maiden, Fear of the dark & powerslave as well as Best of the beast

Powerslave is Maiden at their peak, breaking the band worldwide , Selling millions and enabling them to play nothing but areana shows worldwide. Imo the slide started to happen directly after that release, Somewhere in time is a good alum but a notch down from Powerslave, every album after that seemed to follow the pattern.

Also worth checking out the double live album Live after death, Best live album ever made, The early days DVD, Killers...which is my second favourite after Powerslave and also Peace of Mind...which is considered by many to be their best work.

Women in Uniform?

Recorded as a single on the record companies assumption that there own vastly superior output wouldn't make em any sales and to give them a track they could play on Top of the Pops.....ugh, Imo its the single worst song ever recorded by Maiden, even the guitars are muffled for its intended audience.

442653 2006-04-07 07:00:00 One thing i wont be listening to is Disturbed, at least not live..
We went in to get my ticket today, and found that the only tickets left were for the gallery. BUGGER. Ruder words than that were said.

I'm out of shock now, but there was a moment or 2 spent coming to grips with the concept. :p

442654 2006-04-07 15:14:00 Ticketek claimed there were no down-stairs tickets left, however i thought i'd check Real Groovy . . .

Downstairs tickets was all they had! :D

Me happy personthingy . . I can now look forward to seeing Disturbed the proper way; drenched in sweat, jumping around even if i don't want to, and hanging of the crowd barrier . . . . yeeharrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!

442655 2006-04-07 20:23:00 The promoters must have given Real Groovy downstairs tickets to sell so you were lucky. The allocation through Ticketek must have sold out. Just don't lose it 'cos GA tickets are nearly impossible to get replaced. Enjoy the concert.
Pauline.

Pauline . Quite right .

****Personthingy takes off punters hat and puts on ex promoters hat****

When i've dealt with Ticketek, i got tickets printed for my preferred outlets to sell . Ticketek get to sell the unallocated tickets, which they print out on the spot as required .

My bet is that in this case a big wad of downstairs tickets were printed off for real groovy to sell, and Ticketek themselves were left selling the nasty upstairs tickets .

442657 2006-04-11 03:13:00 Its amazing what you find when you fix people's computers. I now have the complete Iron Maiden discography in mp3 format.

According to the discography, best of the beast is 2 CDs, but I own best of the beast & mine is only 1 CD

442658 2006-04-13 01:58:00 One of my favourite streaming audio sites is WFUV, Fordham University, New York.

http://www.wfuv.org/

And my favourite program there is The Big Broadcast, hosted by Rich Conaty, great if you are into that 20s/30s music era.

There are vast archives there of past programs that can be listened to.

Even if you dont like 20s/30s stuff, there are other genres for many peoples tastes.
