443122 2006-04-03 01:53:00 Mike, I rang TelstraClear and the plan you are referring to is only for the Wlgtn, Chch, and Kapiti areas. In other areas the price is almost doubled.

Tukapa, with both my browsers the Consumer site fails to load and appears to be blocked by one of my security programs, as the page download status in the bottom left margin flicks back and forth twice a second between the URL and "loading". Thanks for checking.

O Dear!!

You are right, I got a little bit ahead of myself on that one,$48 per month it is going to cost me for 3mbit with a 5gig cap throttled back after i hit the limit, sorry to mislead everyone, I thought it was a little to good to be true!

443123 2006-04-03 21:41:00 Mike, I believe iHug has the best deal. Have a look here. (www.ihug.co.nz)

Speeds Down/Up = 3.5 / 128 (faster download speed than other ISPs)
$40/month
3 Gb cap

I don't need that much so will go with the $30 plan which still has 3.5 Mbps download speed.

If anyone knows of a better deal, tell us!

443125 2006-04-05 06:59:00 I'm still on dial-up with Paradise in Auckland, and hoping that Paradise come up with an attractive broadband deal one of these days. I don't want to change ISPs, as that would entail a change of email address. rumpty (2863)
443126 2006-04-05 07:21:00 Rumpty, I have changed email addresses 3 times over the years and each time it is painless, with no problems. Just email everyone and tell them, and then repeat this a week or two later. I am with Paradise but plan to change over to iHug with their $30 a month plan, the best I have seen. Strommer (42)
443127 2006-04-05 09:56:00 Just email everyone and tell themOr just buy a domain name so you can switch providers as you please without having to change your email address. ;) maccrazy (6741)

I changed from Clear to Paradise a few years ago, and emailed everyone I thought needed to know, but a number of these people never put the change in their address book, so there were messages that eventually got to me, after they had enquired around, with "I sent you an email, but it was returned. Have you changed your address?" Admittedly I didn't repeat the change of address message, but how far do you have to lead people?

443129 2006-04-05 10:49:00 Actually, in another forum, some members introduced me to a gem . . . .

. quicksilver . co . nz/studentcard/#adsl" target="_blank">www . quicksilver . co . nz

If you're a student . . . . 3 . 5Mbps/128, 30Gb, for . . . $55!!!!!

Good deal eh??? All you need is that "student card", which you can get free by signing on a free bank account with BNZ . . . . Best ADSL plan EVER . (small print: for students, and I think a connection fee needed) . .

Well, if you're not, I think Actrix and Slingshot's plans are pretty good too . . . Like for slingshot, by buying usage, you can get up to 2Mbps/128, 35Gb, for $65 . . .
