442369 2006-04-01 11:14:00 May I be so bold as to say that I have not been drinking or partaking in any other illegal substances... but after reading this thread I could have sworn I'd 'popped a smiley' and been transported to a special place :stare: Shortcircuit (1666)

442373 2006-04-02 01:55:00 Well, I'd just like to say that yesterday (Saturday) during my daily bike ride, I'm glad that I stopped to help a guy and his Mrs at the roadside working on an upturned bike, otherwise I wouldn't have known what the weather was going to do today.

It turned out that the chain had come off the derailleur and the problem wasn't anything that a squirt of CRC wouldn't fix.

As I cycled off he told me that I should make the best of the nice afternoon as it was going to turn to custard today....well he got that right, it's pe....ing down right now.

On the strength of his warning I did double my usual daily distance on the bike......into a stiffish northerly, up Brophy's Hill, down into Wharekaho
Beach and then the long 170 meter drag up the Kuaotunu Hill. 1 hr 40 min from home to the top and my speedo registering between 0 and 2 mph on the steepest parts.

But, boyo the return trip was a buzz, average speed was 20+ and I was home in 40 minutes!

I just thought you might like to know about this little adventure and be impressed. I could post it in the cycling forums, but it takes a lot more than that to impress these tearaways.

I'm impressed.
I'm still puffing with you ... despite sitting at the comp, having done nothing even slightly energetic today.
You may have inspired me to attack the wilderness which was once a garden, though.
(Then again - maybe not)
