442873 2006-04-01 17:36:00 OK . . . I tried to use the ALT Function here again to get an umlaut . . . well, nevermind why . . . but I have a list of what happens now when I use the ALT+ NumLock .

ALT+
01 = F1 Front Page
02 = F1 SEARCH RESULTS
03 = Nothing
04 = F1 SEARCH FORUMS
05 = F1 FAQ Page
06 = Nothing
07 = Nothing
08 = Toggle F1 pages backwards
09 = Removes the IDG Banners at the top of the F1 page and kills the smilies .

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Gonna try the ALT+1x keys next . . . will keep you posted .

Must be the 110voltage US verses the 220voltage NZ problem again .

442874 2006-04-01 19:56:00 Alt S is the only one I can be bothered with, which is common to many applications. Greg (193)

442879 2006-04-02 02:27:00 Joe, the "Alt + " just produces keycodes (which are not ASCII codes.) . Get an old DOS manual and it will show you what codes there are.

The number of digits given, and leading zeroes matter. Many of the special character codes need more than two digits. Random examples on this computer: ; is alt+59 ƒ is alt+159 Ÿ is alt 0159 .

You were probably just generating codes for the top row Fx keys. with 01 etc.

AHA!!! I knew I wasn't crazy!!

The ALT+xxxx codes I am using generate some really wild things when I am here in F1.......NumLock ON, hold ALT key and use the 10-pad to enter the code for...say.....the copyright sign is supposed to be ALT+0169. I doesn't work that way here...unless I am not on F1.

....actually, what happens is this: I start entering the code whilst holding the ALT key down and before I can get the third number entered, the page jumps to what I said it does...I never get to the last two digits...it&apos ; s already happened.
